Nature is always a source of richness and wonder when we observe it in detail. The play of light, in full sunlight or against the light , reveals astonishing graphic structures. <\/p>\n

Florissima is first and foremost an essay on graphic design and the beauty of nature. The guiding principle is the search for simplicity to extract and capture and capture the graphic essence and beauty of plant forms. The choice of black and white reinforces the play of light and shadow to highlight the plant’ s structure through transparency, to make it resemble porcelain, the absolute whiteness and purity of the mineral. <\/p>\n\n

But beyond photography, images and graphics, we are plunged into an abstract, impalpable realm impalpable realm that touches nature and the whole of the living world. As C\u00e9cile Caulier so aptly puts it in her poem, the beauty of nature also lies in its ephemeral nature. All these plants, these flowers now belong to the past, and nothing can bring back the initial moment of their capture. From bud to dried stem, this essay is also a tribute to life and the passage of time that only photography can capture in the moment. <\/p>\n\n

The illustration chosen for these photos is a poem by C\u00e9cile Caulier beautifully sung by Fran\u00e7oise Hardy and more recently by Natacha Atlas: “Mon amie la rose”.<\/p>\n\n
