The Giants of the Renaissance, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, at Les Baux de Provence.

Located in the heart of the Alpilles mountains in Provence, the Carrières de Lumières present visitors with an immersive show in the genius of the Italian Renaissance, entitled “Giants of the Renaissance”. This unique artistic experience highlights three of the greatest artists of all time: Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael.

The Renaissance, a period of artistic renewal, saw the flourishing of these three masters of painting and sculpture. Although each had his own distinct style, they shared a deep bond. They influenced and inspired each other, and their collective work has marked the history of art for eternity.

Among these three geniuses, Michelangelo occupies a special place, not least thanks to his work in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel. The show pays tribute to his contribution by projecting images of his famous frescoes, including the Creation of Adam, the Last Judgment fresco and many others. The Sistine Chapel was a veritable laboratory for Michelangelo, where he demonstrated his unrivalled talent by sculpting and painting to create an exceptional visual and spiritual experience. The show highlights his artistic vision, which transcended the limits of the religious art of his time to become a universal symbol of human creativity.

But the connection between these three artists goes beyond the walls of the Sistine Chapel. Leonardo da Vinci, often considered the genius of the Renaissance, also left an indelible mark on art. His scientific and artistic work, notably the “Last Supper” and the “Mona Lisa”, inspired and influenced his contemporaries, including Michelangelo.

Raphael, meanwhile, was a contemporary of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. His delicate, balanced art brought a different dimension to the Italian Renaissance. The show reveals the beauty of his frescoes in the Vatican chambers and highlights how his work contributed to the evolution of Renaissance art.

Audiences are transported to an era of unprecedented creativity. The show creates an immersive atmosphere, where music and visual projections merge to offer an incomparable artistic experience.

The “Giants of the Renaissance” show is a celebration of the artistic legacy of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. It highlights the deep connections between these three Renaissance masters, while also showcasing Michelangelo’s extraordinary work in the Sistine Chapel.
